Harvard’s $42 Billion Fund to Stop Investing in Fossil Fuels

The move comes after years of sustained activism from students calling for fossil-fuel divestment, and amid increasingly urgent demands from investors that financial institutions withdraw their support of businesses that are contributing to man-made climate change.

ECO Energy Funds = ESG Investors + Property Owners

What is ESG investing?

ESG investing is a form of sustainable investing that considers environmental, social and governance factors to judge an investment’s financial returns and its overall impact. An investment’s ESG score measures the sustainability of an investment in those specific categories.

According to the US SIF Foundation’s 2020 trends report, U.S. assets under management using ESG strategies grew to $17.1 trillion at the beginning of 2020. That’s a 42% increase from $12 trillion at the beginning of 2018.

Benefits of ESG investing

High returns. A 2019 white paper produced by the Morgan Stanley Institute for Sustainable Investing compared the performance of sustainable funds with traditional funds and found that from 2004 to 2018, the total returns of sustainable mutual and exchange-traded funds were similar to those of traditional funds. Other studies have found that ESG investments can outperform conventional ones.

Lower risk. The same Morgan Stanley study found that sustainable funds consistently showed a lower downside risk than traditional funds, regardless of asset class. The study found that during turbulent markets, such as in 2008, 2009, 2015 and 2018, traditional funds had significantly larger downside deviation than sustainable funds, meaning traditional funds had a higher potential for loss.

Are you looking for fixed income?

Interest rates are close to zero and indications are the Federal Reserve will maintain these low rates for some time to come. We offer an alternative that will boost your fixed income by investing in solar power projects that generate consistent returns.

Renewable Energy as a Service (REaaS)

We provide the total energy solution - We Design, Build, Finance & Operate projects in the renewable energy infrastructure. We specialize in building onsite mini-grids for power generation.

We simplify Migrating to Renewable energy.

We assist Property owners to evaluate:

  • Different types of technology;

  • Lack of historical product performance and warranty,

  • Product manufacturer viability for long term support and maintenance;

  • Federal Tax and Local incentives;

  • Building codes and Utility interconnection; and

  • Financing.

  • Commercial Buildings (Mini grids)

    A mini-grid is an off-grid electricity distribution network involving small-scale electricity generation. The electrification of the global off-grid rural population remains a major task of many developing and developed countries. Mini-grids represent the most cost-effective way to provide universal electricity access to these populations. Due to new technology innovations that have resulted in declining costs both for mini-grids and energy generation sources, specifically solar and wind power, mini-grids have the potential to electrify remote areas that would otherwise remain outside of a grid connection.

  • Residential Buildings (Nano grids)

    A nanogrid is a power distribution system for a single house/small building, with the ability to connect or disconnect from other power entities via a gateway. It consists of local power production powering local loads, with the option of utilizing energy storage and/or a control system.

  • Energy Storage Systems

    Energy storage systems provide a wide array of technological approaches to managing our power supply in order to create a more resilient energy infrastructure and bring cost savings to utilities and consumers.

  • Airports, Universities, Hospitals Large Campus (Micro grids)

    A microgrid is a decentralized group of electricity sources and loads that normally operates connected to and synchronous with the traditional wide area synchronous grid (macrogrid), but can also disconnect to "island mode" and function autonomously as physical or economic conditions dictate. Microgrids are best served by local energy sources where power transmission and distribution from a major centralized energy source is too far and costly to execute. In this case the microgrid is also called an autonomous, stand-alone or isolated microgrid.
